What are dental implants and how much do they cost?
Dental implants are titanium screws that are placed into your jaw. They are used to help replace missing or broken non-restorable teeth.
A single dental implant, along with the abutment and implant crown typically costs between $3600 and $4200 depending on whether or not bone grafting is needed. Most private PPO dental insurances will cover a portion of the cost.
How long do dental implants last?
Dental implants can last a lifetime if properly maintained.
How long does the surgery take and when will I get my new teeth?
A single implant placement typically takes 30-45 minutes. If multiple implants are place and if extractions are needed, surgery may take 1-3 hours.
Once the implant is placed, the implant crown (tooth) can usually be placed 4 to 6 months later once the implant has fully integrated with your jaw bone. If extensive bone grafting is needed, more time may be needed before restoring the implant with a crown.
Is the implant surgery painful and how long does it last for?
Typically, my patients feel little to no pain following implant surgery. Slight discomfort can be managed with over the counter medications.
Do I have to pay everything at once?
No, the surgery and bone grafting is usually paid during the first phase and the abutment and implant crown are paid 4+ months later when it is time to restore the tooth.
What is the success rate of dental implants integrating?
Usually between 93-97% in healthy candidates.
Uncontrolled systemic health conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension, and smoking may drastically decrease the success rate and cause the implants to fail during the integration phase.
Poor oral hygiene and periodontal disease may also affect the long term outcome of dental implants.
